Why Computers

Computers are a way to... Finish that sentence with just about any ending, and you might be right. There is a new language, that our computer aware children speak, with its own syntax and symbols.

In my classes at J. C. Stuart and Hawthorne, we "play" with the tools of tomorrow. All during the year, we troubleshoot problems and discuss Internet safety.

During the first making period we are keyboarding, formatting font, printing documents, practicing math skills, taking the Star Reading test and having fun.

During the second making period we are keyboarding, formatting font, learning Internet skills (including staying safe on the Internet), learning PowerPoint, taking the Star Reading test and having more fun.

During the third making period we are keyboarding, using the Internet, learning Excel, taking the Star Reading test and having even more fun.

During the fourth making period we are keyboarding, using the Internet as a study tool for art media, forms and artistic expression, using Excel, taking the Star Reading test and fun is almost over... until next year!
