Principal’s Message…“I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way.”        - George Benson

Our youth are our most valued venture. There is nothing more important that we can do as parents and educators than impact the lives of the future. I believe it is our responsibility to teach our children excellence through the modeling of that   characteristic. It is not enough to tell children about working toward excellence. Modeling commitments, choices, and sacrifices speaks louder that any words we can utter. Consistently talking with children about their feelings and beliefs, planning interesting and thorough lessons, ensuring assignments are completed with high quality, and supporting family focused events are just a few examples of ways WE (educators and parents) can actively encourage Excellence in our Twin Hills students each and every day!                                                                                                                     -Mrs. Nock-Lemons

Summer Packet

Twin Hills Elementary School
Summer Packet

Dear Parents & Students,

As we come to the close of my first year as Principal of Twin Hills, I would like to thank you for supporting us in our efforts throughout the 2012-2013 school year. The summer season is upon us. and although it is a time for fun, it is also an opportunity to reinforce skill development in our students in preparation for their next grade level!

Summer enrichment activities are meaningful experiences for all students and an essential extension of our academic school year.  I have attached a summer reading challenge for all of our Twin Hills Superstars to complete over the summer.  The following outline our Summer Enrichment Activities:

·  Mathematics (Grades 1-5): Students will receive a folder containing a math packet. The packet will be collected on the first day of school and be reviewed with their classroom teacher.

·  Language Arts (Grades 1-5): Attached are the books and accompanying activities for each grade level. We hope that you and your child read the book, have meaningful dialogue about it, and take pleasure in the assigned activity.  Your child is expected to bring the completed assignment to Twin Hills on our first day of school for the 2013-2014 school year.

o   Students in 3rd, 4th & 5th grades will receive a grade level novel that must be used as part of their reading requirement and activity assignment. The
novel will be checked out on the last day of school and must be returned.

o   The reading information will also be posted on our school website, (Select Twin Hills Elementary School).

In August, you will receive correspondence that will provide you with your child’s classroom teacher and details about the opening of our school for the new year.

If you have a question or concern, feel free to reach out to our main office staff at anytime.
