PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Welcome to Abraham Levitt Middle School, home of the Lions! I trust
you will enjoy our webpage as you become familiar with our school
culture. At Levitt, we recognize that middle school students
experience great changes intellectually, socially, emotionally, and
physically during these years. We have dedicated, caring, staff
members that are committed to help students successfully transition
to high school.
At Levitt Middle School, we believe it is up to us to support and
guide them through this time of transition. We are educators,
guides, surrogate parents – we discipline, we encourage, we praise,
we cry with them and we celebrate with them. We
promote success for all students!
Instructionally, we are developing an academic program that
addresses individual students learning needs. Our school-wide focus
is on improving Language Arts and Math test scores.
As educators, we work diligently to
improve our students’ reading and writing skills so they can be
successful in all subject areas. Teachers of every content area use
strategies that increase student proficiency in these important
areas. Our commitment is to academic excellence and the
development of our students’ individual strengths and talents.
After school, teachers tutor students
through the 21st Century program on Monday through
Friday. Then for those students who need one-on-one assistance with
homework, No Child Left Behind offers help through tutoring
organizations. Parents can contact the school if they are interested
in any of the tutoring programs. Our ultimate goal is to help every
student every day to become a life-long learner.
In closing, I am a strong advocate for parent involvement. From
personal experience I know that middle school years can be both a
wonderful and challenging time for parents, students and teachers.
We are fortunate at Levitt to have a Parent Teachers Association
that works to bridge home and school connections. We welcome
and want parents and guardians to be involved in our school!
You can assist us greatly by setting appropriate guidelines for
completing homework and conferring daily with your child about what
is being learned in school.
If you have any questions or concerns during the school year, please
feel free to contact your child’s teacher or the school’s main
office office. I hope that each student will have an enjoyable,
rewarding, and positive experience at Levitt Middle School this
year!
