Rainy Day Recess Boxes

On rainy day or inclement weather days (forecasted temperatures below 45 degrees) all students will remain inside for recess.  Indoor recess will be held in the multi-purpose room and students will remain seated with their classes.  Board games (Chutes & Ladders, checkers, chess, dominoes, connect four, etc) and age-appropriate puzzles will be available for students to play with but all students are encouraged to also have a Rainy Day Recess Box.

 

 What is a Rainy Day Recess Box?

A Rainy Day recess Box is a shoe box filled with things your child may like to do during indoor recess.

 

Can I decorate my Rainy Day Recess Box?

Yes, you can decorate your box!

 

What are some examples of Rainy Day Recess Box items?

Deck of cards, card games (Uno, Old Maid, etc.) crayons, markers, small puzzles, colored pencils, stencils, magazines, coloring books, trading cards…

 

Rainy Day Recess Box Rules:

1. All items must fit in your child’s shoe box.

2. No electronic games.

3. Items must be able to be played/used on the table.

 

Your child’s Rainy Day Recess Box is his/her responsibility and will be kept in his/her classroom.  Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the main office 835-8990.

 

NEEDED/WANTED:

 

  1. New or slightly used board games and puzzles… please send your donations to your child’s classroom teacher!
  2. Volunteers during indoor recess to teach students chess and other board games
