Mission Statement

Our mission at Hawthorne Elementary is to prepare our students to become life long learners through the pursuit of knowledge, skills and attitudes that will help them deal with the challenges of an ever-changing world. At Hawthorne school the teachers, parents and support staff work together to build a strong and purposeful school community that promotes teaching and learning in a safe, positive and nurturing environment. Our school promotes academic excellence, student achievement and best teaching practices in an atmosphere that is built on mutual respect, sharing, trust, cooperation, professionalism and collegiality. Based on our calling to this noble profession, the educational profession, we desire and expect students to become dynamic learners and productive citizens. We acknowledge and accept our students as unique human beings with the capacity to learn and achieve.

By setting high academic standards for each of our students, we give them the opportunity to become successful and understand that learning is a life long process.

Principal Statement

We have had a smooth school opening. Our children are motivated and ready to learn. Our teachers are very excited and are engaging our young people in the learning process on a daily basis.

Please encourage our students to come to school prepared and on time. Also, impress upon them the importance of completing homework assignments.

In October, we will be starting our “Student of the Month Program”. Each teacher will choose a Student of the Month. Each student will be recognized with pictures, awards, and prizes.

In closing, our entire staff would like to thank you for your continued support. Our mutual efforts help our young people achieve and become successful.

Teacher Of The Year 2007/2008

Ms. Barbara Skacel
