“Focus on the positives and be grateful”-Katrina Bowden

Hello Jewel Parents and Caregivers,

We are currency in the last full week of the second marking period…almost at the halfway mark of the school year.  We are making great progress at W R James in every area.  Students and teachers are very busy with teaching and learning.  We are currently preparing for Benchmark Testing in ELA and Math.  Teachers are reviewing good test-taking strategies with the students during class time.

I am confident that we will see great growth in our students for the first half of the school year.

What's New?

  • Ms. Powell, our Visual Art Teacher has created an Art Newsletter to keep you aware of what students are learning in her class (See Attached)  The newsletter includes talking points to assist you with having meaningful conversations about art with your child.

  • The 2nd Marking period ends next week February 2, 2023

  • Job Opportunity:  WRJ is hiring 2 lunch recess aides.  If you are interested in joining or staff, please go to our district website and click on Job Opportunities (Job ID 1382)

Important Reminders:

  • There is no supervision for students being dropped off to school before the teacher start time at 8:40 AM.  If you arrive before that time with your child you must remain with them until teachers are on duty.  Dropping students off before 8:40 AM and leaving them unattended on school grounds places your student in a situation where there is no adult available or responsible for being sure they are monitored.

  • If you want to avoid the congestion in the school lot, you may park on the street along the walkway connected to the school or on any of the adjacent streets.  There are crossing guards on duty to assist you and your child with crossing on to the property safely.

  • Student parties are not hosted in school.  Treat bags and other party items will be passed out to students at the end of the school day.

  • Willingboro School District has a uniform dress code. All students are required to adhere to the policy.  This is not a Principal Ash rule.  This is a board-approved mandate that is enforced by all teachers and staff at WRJ, including Principal Ash.  If you are concerned about your child being cold please be sure that they wear a long sleeve shirt underneath the uniform shirt.  If you need more uniform attire, please contact Ms. Bennett  (gbennett@wboe.net).

  • Please be reminded that uniform violations are a Code of Conduct violation and may be responded to with board-approved disciplinary actions, including but not limited to withdrawal of privileges, such as participation in extracurricular activities, recess, and field trips)

  • You may find the Uniform Dress code on our District Website or click this link2021-2022 DRESS CODE: https://5il.co/vxpy .  There have been no changes since the update in 2021.

  • Hoodies are not part of the dress code and should be removed when the student enters the classroom.
