“I am different. Not less.” -Dr. Temple Grandin

Hello Jewel Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome back to the final phase of the 2022-2023 school year!

Today, April 17, 2023, is the last day of the 3rd Marking Period.

Report cards will be available through the Genesis Parent Portal on April 27, 2023.

These next 9 weeks will be jam-packed with activities and….NJSLA testing for all students in grades 3 and 4.

We are WRJ Ready for it all!

What’s New

  • Our students read over 2,100 books for the WRJ Loves Literacy Principal Challenge!  This means Principal Ash lost and MUST create a TIK TOK video.  The students will all be permitted to make suggestions for the video.

  • Our Book Ark is placed in front of the building for students to take and donate books.  The students all know this was a special gift.  We are hopeful that our community friends will honor the donation by not damaging it (It has already been repaired once)

  • WRJ Parent Night has been moved to April 27 at 6:30 pm in the WRJ multipurpose room.  The date was changed due to the school board meeting on April 24.  Please plan to join us!

  • WRJ  PTA meeting Thursday, April 19, 2023 at 6:30 pm in the multipurpose room

For more information email WRJamesPTA@yahoo.com

  • If you are not getting text messages from Principal Ash, you must update your phone number in the Genesis Parent Portal

Important Reminders:

  • There is no supervision for students being dropped off to school before the teacher start time at 8:40 AM.  If you arrive before that time with your child you must remain with them until teachers are on duty.  Dropping students off before 8:40 AM and leaving them unattended on school grounds places your student in a situation where there is no adult available or responsible for being sure they are monitored.

  • If you want to avoid the congestion in the school lot, you may park on the street along the walkway connected to the school or on any of the adjacent streets.  There are crossing guards on duty to assist you and your child with crossing onto the property safely.

  • Student parties are not hosted in school.  Treat bags and other party items will be passed out to students at the end of the school day.

  • Willingboro School District has a uniform dress code. All students are required to adhere to the policy.  This is not a Principal Ash rule.  This is a board-approved mandate that is enforced by all teachers and staff at WRJ, including Principal Ash.  If you are concerned about your child being cold please be sure that they wear a long sleeve shirt underneath the uniform shirt.  If you need more uniform attire, please contact Ms. Bennett  (gbennett@wboe.net).

  • Please be reminded that uniform violations are a Code of Conduct violation and may be responded to with board-approved disciplinary actions, including but not limited to withdrawal of privileges, such as participation in extracurricular activities, recess, and field trips)

  • You may find the Uniform Dress code on our District Website or click this link2021-2022 DRESS CODE: https://5il.co/vxpy .  There have been no changes since the update in 2021.

  • Hoodies are not  part of the dress code and should be removed when the student enters the classroom.

All for one and one for all

  • Uniform closet that provides free, clean uniforms to any student who needs one (Donations are welcome)

  • A Cold weather closet for students who need jackets and coats (Donations are welcome)

  • School supply chest for students who need to replenish school supplies throughout the year
