For Immediate Release January 31, 2025 Contact: Dan Hanson Laura Bishop Communications dan@laura-bishop.com 610-613-2758 Willingboro Public Schools Invite Community to Bond Referendum Virtual Town Hall on February 12 Willingboro, N.J. – Willingboro Public Schools invite members of the community to learn more about the upcoming bond referendum at a virtual Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12. Community members will hear from district leaders, board members, teachers, and the financial and architectural advisers who led the planning for the bond referendum. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about the bond referendum following the presentation through the Q&A chat on Zoom. Visit willingboroschools.org/reimagine to access the Zoom link for the Town Hall. A recording of the session will also be available on the website. The virtual Town Hall will provide information on the two questions that will appear on the March 11 referendum ballot. The first question relates to proposed projects that include repairing/replacing roofing at several schools, renovating Middle School and High School science labs to meet teaching standards, transforming elementary school libraries into modern media centers, building gym annexes at the elementary schools to relieve crowding and help keep class sizes smaller, installing bathrooms in each preschool/kindergarten classroom, and improving safety and traffic flow for parking lot at Garfield East Early Childhood Development Center. The second question relates to building an indoor track/basketball complex at Windover Lane on the grounds next to the district’s Country Club Administration building. The venue would include a six-lane banked track with additional lanes for sprints, areas for jumping events and pole vault, and other amenities. In addition, it would include two indoor basketball courts connected to the track through a lobby. The complex could provide opportunities to generate revenue for the district through rental fees and sponsorship opportunities. In addition, Town Hall participants will learn about how the projects will be funded, the $21 million in state aid the district would receive for the projects, tax relief for seniors, and how to vote in the March 11 referendum. “Our goal is to give the members of our community the information they need and answer any questions they have so they can make an informed decision at the polls on March 11,” said Superintendent Dr. Malcolm X. Outlaw. “This proposal would impact the entire community and would allow us to reimagine our schools for the future.” In addition to the virtual Town Hall, Willingboro Public Schools will offer other opportunities for the public to learn more about the referendum before the March 11 vote. Visit willingboroschools.org/reimagine for more information.
