Dear Willingboro Community,
I am writing to you in my role as Acting Superintendent of the Willingboro Public School District to share an important update regarding our district realignment plan. This letter serves as formal notice that there is a possibility your child(ren) may be moved to a different school as part of our district-wide realignment intended to support smaller class sizes and strengthen student academic growth and success.
Most Pre-Kindergarten students will attend classes within J.C. Stuart Early Childhood; however, a few may remain at Garfield East, as explained in our virtual info sessions with minor scheduling adjustments to optimize classroom space and resources. Hawthorne, Twin Hills, and W.R. James will serve grades K-3; Garfield East will serve Pre K-3-3rd grade. James A. Cotten will serve grades 4-5. Memorial Middle School will serve grades 6-8, Willingboro High School will serve grades 9-12, and the Alternative Program will serve grades 6-12 for eligible students.
The realignment is designed to support overcrowding, thus creating smaller class sizes, enabling more targeted instruction and enhanced opportunities for student success. This realignment will also support more coherent grade-level cohorts and streamlined transitions as students progress through the district.
We are actively collaborating with the Special Services department to maintain each student’s placement whenever possible, ensuring continuity of support services and accommodations. If a change in placement is deemed necessary to best support a student’s needs, you will be informed and provided with details about any required adjustments.
Official notification regarding whether your child(ren) will be attending a new school will be issued in early July. This notice will include your child’s current and prospective placements, timelines, transportation details, and a contact point for questions. We understand that changes can be challenging for families. We are committed to clear communication, support resources, and a smooth transition process to minimize disruption and promote a positive start to the new school year.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to ensure our students are prepared to begin the new year in a setting that best supports their learning and growth. If you have immediate questions or concerns, please contact the district through our OnFlo system located on our website.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Marti Hill-Parker
Acting Superintendent of Schools/Curriculum and Instruction
Willingboro Public School District
